Beijing Capital Airlines to Restore Colombo Direct in September

Beijing Capital Airlines will resume its direct service between Beijing and Colombo from September 2026, Lanka Newspapers reported on 16 June, restoring the only nonstop air link between the Chinese capital and Sri Lanka after a mid-year suspension.

Route Background

The airline first launched the Beijing–Bandaranaike International Airport service on 31 January 2026, operating with an Airbus A330-300 at one flight a week before increasing to two weekly departures from 10 February. Chinese arrivals were highlighted as one of the island’s priority growth markets for 2026, as authorities push toward a total of three million international visitors — up 27 per cent on 2025 figures.
